ABOUT SALT LAKE BOARD OF REALTORS®
COMMITTEES AND VOLUNTEERING TO SERVE

REALTOR® and Affiliate Members are encouraged to volunteer throughout the year to serve on one or more of the Board's many committees, which range from internal affairs to community service. The smooth and efficient running of the Board is accomplished by hours of volunteer service by many dedicated members. The experience offers an exceptional opportunity to network with other real estate professionals and make new friends. We invite you to give back to the industry and the community by volunteering your time.

There are approximately 250-300 committee assignments, but some committees are limited in size. Other committee appointments will be available if your first choice is closed. When a member receives an assignment, he or she is expected to donate the time and effort necessary for the success of that committee. Assignments are finalized at the end of each year.

AFFILIATES ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Affiliates Advisory Committee is a 14-member panel of Affiliate industry leaders who have been actively involved with the SLBR for at least two years. This committee represents all of the Affiliate members of the SLBR. The Affilliates Committee aims to:

  • Increase awareness of the Affiliate membership to the Real Estate Community at large
  • Provide Affiliate members an opportunity to be actively involved with the Salt Lake Board of REALTORS® members, committees and Task Groups
  • Increase the number of Affiliate members to the SLBR
  • Organize various sporting events and networking opportunities.

COMMUNICATIONS - MAGAZINE

The Magazine Team serves as the editorial board for the Salt Lake REALTOR® Magazine, a four-color monthly publication featuring articles and information for members.

COMMUNICATIONS - WEBSITE

The Website Team provides oversight for the the official website of the Salt Lake Board. The site is www.slrealtors.com. It provides vital information and services for members. The site educates consumers about the business of real estate, and introduces them to the REALTOR® and Affiliate members of the Salt Lake Board.

Shrimp Fest Committee - plans a June REALTOR® fundraising auction and fun food event in support of the Travelers Aid Society community shelter needs

CHRISTMAS IN JULY COMMITTEE

Christmas in July Committee - organizes a celebration held at the downtown homeless shelter showering gifts purchased or donated at the Shrimp Fest to those needy families, with a visit by Santa and hosted by REALTORS®

KIDSFEST COMMITTEE

Kids Fest Committee - puts together a carnival hosted by REALTORS® to raise funds for the Christmas Box House - a temporary shelter for abused or neglected children - a contribution by REALTORS® to the Utah's Promise campaign

Blood Drive Subcommittee - arranges REALTOR® donors several times a year for draws at the American Red Cross Center. Coordinator: Tobi Roberts

EDUCATION COMMITTEE

The Education Committee sets the criteria for the selection and development of new courses for the Board. They evaluate existing courses and instructors. They also organize special educational events to be held throughout the year. Organizes:

The Member Services Committee aims to develop and recommend services and programs designed to create interest and involvement by all members in Board activities.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS COMMITTEE

The Professional Standards Committee serves on hearing panels to arbitrate disputes arising out of real estate transactions and to hear matters of alleged ethical and/or professional misconduct by members of the Salt Lake Board of REALTORS®. NOTE: This committee is limited in size.

The RPAC Committee oversees REALTOR® political fund raising programs. (RPAC - REALTORS® Political Action Committee)

SPORTS COMMITTEE

The Sports Committee oversees many of the annual sporting events hosted by the Salt Lake Board of REALTORS® Affiliates Advisory Board. They organize events such as REALTOR® Ski Day, the REALTOR® Campus 5K, and the Park City Golf Tournament.
