COMMUNITY EFFORTS
THE REALTOR® MISSION
The Mission Statement of the National Association of REALTORS® centers on property rights. REALTOR® associations work through local, state and federal channels to:
- Protect the property rights of United States citizens
- Preserve the tax deduction on personal property
- Lower capital gains taxes
- Protect mortgage loans for consumers
- Influence zoning and planning procedures
- Strengthen fair housing
- Provide more affordable housing
REALTORS® and Affiliate Members have a vested interest in our community. Protecting Property Rights and building strong communities through service is a priority for the SLBR and it's members. By organizing various community service projects throughout the year, donating hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to organizations like The Road Home Homeless Shelter and the Christmas Box House, REALTORS® and Affiliate Members make that vision a reality.
Some of our current community service projects include:
Kidsfest
- an annual fundraising festival, open to the public and held at Wheeler Farm each August to benefit The Christmas Box House. Please come and enjoy this great annual event!
UARHOF- the Utah Association of REALTORS® Housing Opportunity Fund addresses the problem of housing affordability and availability.
Shrimpfest- an annual REALTOR® auction and dinner that raises funds for The Road Home Shelter.
Christmas in July- a celebration held at The Road Home showering needy families with gifts and a visit from Santa.
Blood Drives- Volunteers organize blood drives several times a year at the American Red Cross Center.
Governmental Affairs- Working through local, state, and federal channels to protect the consumer and private property rights.
Technology Trade Show- The Salt Lake Board of REALTORS® invites exhibitors from all over the country to attend this event and educate REALTORS® and the public about the various technologies used in the real estate industry.
