New members of the Board are required to complete the Code of Ethics training and Board Orientation within 60 days of joining and every four years as designated by the NAR. The Code of Ethics may be completed online or it may be completed live at the Board office. The Board Orientation must be completed here at the Board office. Existing members of the Board will need to complete the Code of Ethics training every four years as designated by the NAR.

New members of the Board will need to complete the training online or take the live class with the Orientation class within 60 days of joining. Existing members will need to complete the Code of Ethics training once every 4 years as designated by the National Association of REALTORS®. (The current completion time frame runs from January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2008). Members can logon to their member account at www.slrealtors.com and click on "Education Info" from the Education Menu. When you complete the Code of Ethics training at the Board, we will issue you a certificate after class and update your Board education record within ten business days. Members who complete the online Code of Ethics training or a Code of Ethics class outside of the Board must submit the completion certificate to the Board Education Department.

There are currently two options for completing the NAR Code of Ethics training. Members may complete the "Real Estate Ethics" course through AMERICAS BEST distance continuing education program for a fee and three hours of core credits toward license renewal or the training may be completed through the NAR for free and withouth CE credit. Detailed instructions for both of these options may be found HERE.
AMERICAS BEST will mail a CE certificate within 1-2 business days of successfully completing the course and submitting the required forms. The NAR will email a non-CE completion certificate within 2-3 business days to the email address on file with the Board.

Continuing education (CE) may be completed online as "distance" education or in a classroom as "traditional" or "live" education.
Agents who were licensed before July 1, 2007 are required to complete 12 CE credits with at least six hours of Division-approved "core" credits included.
Agents who were licensed on or after July 1, 2007 are required to complete the 12-hour Division approved "New Agent Course" (which includes the core requirements) for their first renewal.

Core course credits can come from five different topics: State Approved Forms/Contracts, Ethics, Agency, Prevention of Real Estate & Mortgage Fraud, and Federal, State Laws & Administrative Rules. The SLBR online education calendar will specify if a class is certified as a "Core Course". We highly encourage agents to verify the core status of classes offered outside of the Board by contacting the Utah Division of Real Estate at 801-530-6747 or visiting their website at http://realestate.utah.gov.

The Division will not permit additional CE classes to roll over to the next reneawal period; any additional CE hours completed will not be counted towards the license renewal.

The Utah Division of Real Estate requires all agents to keep their certificates for at least three years; these certificates will serve as the final proof of completion for CE courses. CE providers in Utah are alos required to "bank" your credits to the PearVUE website at www.pearsonvue.com within 10 business days of completing the class; this site is designed to coincide with the Division's online license management database and to better help agents keep track of their certificates.
Duplicate certificates are available for courses completed at the Board office for a duplication fee of $15 each; these requests must be submitted to the Education Department at least one business day prior to picking up the certificate.
The course certification expiration date does not affect you. As long as you completed the class on or before that date, your certificate is good until you turn in your CE credits for your current license renewal.

This system is designed to help you better track classes you completed at the Board office each calendar year and is not meant to serve as proof of successful course completion. Agents are required to keep their CE certificates for at least three years as their final proof of course completion in Utah as well as having their credits banked to www.pearsonvue.com within 10 business days of the course completion.

Real estate licenses are governed by the Utah Division of Real Estate and are therefore tracked and renewed by that government entity. Your pocket license will indicate when your continuing education is due and you may contact the Division for the license renewal fees and online renewal process or you may visit their website at http://realestate.utah.gov.

Classes may be completed in a traditional classroom setting or in a distance (online) setting approved by the Division. We offer a wide variety of traditional CE classes here at the Board office; our education calendar can be found on our website. Online CE and other classes provided outside of the Board may be found by contacting the Division at 801-530-6747 or visiting their website at http://realestate.utah.gov.

No, however the fees for a non-board member are about $10 per hour and must be paid over the phone with a credit/debit card or in person with cash prior to the date of the class. Non-licensed students will not receive CE for any classes completed through the Board.

It is not necessary to pre-register for CE and board new member classes; however, we strongly encourage pre-registration at least one full business day in advance so that the Education Department can adequately plan to have sufficient materials ready for those attending. Also, there might be times when we have to cancel a class or times when classes fill up. In either case, you would not know of this until you arrived at the Board. Member class registrations are processed online by logging onto the secure portion of our website. (logon instructions)

Yes. We are required to pay our instructors for the students who sign up for class regardless of CE status. Please review our education cancellation policy for further information.
Online registrations will provide an immediate payment receipt with our cancellation policy as well as email a copy of this receipt to the email address on file with the Board and a coversheet stating the name, date, and time of class.
