How do I join the Salt Lake Board of REALTORS®?

First you need to have an active real estate license and place it with a member broker. Next, you need to complete the Salt Lake Board "Membership Form" and have your broker sign it. You can then mail or fax it to the board with your dues and entry fee or bring it in in person (if you fax it, you must include a credit card # for payment). The fees are as follows: Entry fee $350 Annual Dues $440.00 (prorated according to the month in which you join). If you are a broker or certified appraiser, you will need to complete the "Application" form. The above fees are the same.

If I am only going to be an assistant, do I need to join the board?

We can not force anyone to join the board, but if you have an active real estate license, your broker is required to report you as an add and pay the dues within 30 days of placing your license with the company. The broker will be assessed annual dues for you as a "non-member licensee". If you wish to join, you will pay the dues and the entry fee.

Yes, the $30 fee is a mandatory assessment by the National Association of REALTORS®. This fee funds a nationwide public awareness campaign that includes TV network and cable ads, as well as radio ads highlighting the value a REALTOR® brings to a transaction and stresses the importance of using a REALTOR®.

How do I reinstate my membership with the Salt Lake Board of REALTORS®?

If you have been terminated from the board for over 1 year, you will have to apply as a new member and pay the initial fees again ($350 entry fee and dues). You will need to complete the "Membership Form" and have your broker sign it. If you have been terminated for over 1 year, but have been paying the "HOLD fee" of $75 each year, you will not have to pay the $350 entry fee. You will only need to complete the "Membership Form" and pay the prorated annual dues for the current year. If you have been terminated for less than 1 year, complete the "Membership Form" and have your broker sign it. You will need to pay the prorated annual dues if they have not been paid during the current calendar year. If your dues have been paid for the current year, then there is no fee to reinstate.

How do I transfer from one company to another?

You need to notify three different entities: the Division of Real Estate (by completing the State Change Card), the Salt Lake Board (by completing the Membership Form), and the Wasatch Front Regional MLS (by completing the WFR Subscriber Form). If you have an Electronic Keypad, you will need to have your new broker re-sign the Agreement Forms.

When are the Annual Dues due each year?

Annual Dues are due on October 1 for the following year. You have until November 30 (or close of business on the last business day of Nov.) to pay them without penalty, however, if the dues are not paid before December 1, a $50 late fee will be added to your dues bill. If the dues are not paid before January 1st (by close of business on the last business day of the previous year), your membership will be terminated and there is an additional $100 re-instatement fee and a $50 late fee added to the dues to reinstate on or after January 1. If your dues are not paid before February 1, the reinstatement fee will be raised to $350 plus the dues amount in order to re-join. In addition, active agents with unpaid dues as of February 1st may cause the broker's membership to be terminated as a result.
