Home Prices Are Down, But Sales Are Soaring
Bill Heiner, President of the Salt Lake Board of REALTORS, was featured
in a column in the Spaces section of the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret
News. Heiner said that Salt Lake's home prices peaked a year after
prices peaked nationally.
"Salt Lake City has not seen the severity of house-price declines like other cities," Heiner said. "And, it appears, Salt Lake is very close to the bottom when it comes to pricing. A report commissioned earlier this year by the Salt Lake Board of REALTORS and conducted by the University of Utah's Bureau of Economic and Business Research revealed that home prices will fall another 3 percent to 5 percent this year before reaching bottom and stabilizing in 2011."
