Utah\'s Housing Market: Good Time For Buyers, But For How Long?
The Deseret News on Sunday April 18 and Monday April 19 ran a two-part series on Utah's housing prices. The in-depth story focused on Salt Lake City's housing prices and noted that sellers are still dropping asking prices in order to attract home buyers. The story noted a report commissioned by the Salt Lake Board of REALTORS earlier this year that calls for 3 percent to 5 percent in further price declines across Salt Lake County this year.
Bill Heiner, president of the Salt Lake Board of REALTORS, was quoted in the story as saying the time is right for buyers. "Heiner," the story said, "lays out a compelling case that the rebound is already under way -- led by improving afforadibility."
